A Fabulous Farmhouse Stay Near Albuquerque, New Mexico!
When you travel, sometimes where you choose to stay can make (or break) the whole trip. I love staying in unique places because it adds so much to the trip. My stay at The Farmhouse in Corrales, New Mexico made my Albuquerque/Santa Fe trip (and the 2024 International Balloon Fiesta) a fantastic experience!
I was initially drawn to book The Farmhouse (AirBnb) because of its wonderful, glowing reviews. When I arrived I was pleased to discover those wonderful reviews were “spot on.” Not only did everything match the AirBnb description, the place was squeaky clean, nestled in a separate and peaceful area of the farm, and was charming as could be. I loved it the minute I walked in.
Mary, the host, was super with communication and was welcoming and friendly in her messages. Because she had family visiting, I didn’t get to meet her until the last night of my stay, but we had a lovely visit and she is a wonderful person.

After dragging in groceries and my luggage, I sank down on the comfy couch in the living room and had a cool drink of lemonade. Since I had headed to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta at 3 am that morning, I decided a good old-fashioned nap was in order. I sank into the comfy king-size bed and woke up two hours later feeling refreshed and like a new person.
I made dinner for myself in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed it out on the patio at the entrance to The Farmhouse. I don’t know what it is, but I really think all food tastes better enjoyed outside, especially with a nice country view and country sounds for company. While the food was nothing at all special (Trust me. It wasn’t. I don’t really cook. 🤷♀️), it still was a lovely meal due to the setting.
Note: Microwave available but not pictured.
Because I had another 3 am wake up the next morning, I tucked in early and got a great (although short) night of sleep. It was a short 15- minute drive to the International Balloon Fiesta from the farm. Corrales, NM is a small village nestled sort of in between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The location was absolutely perfect for my planned activities and day trips.
While I occupied one of the units in “The Farmhouse,” there is an adjacent unit (across a small breezeway) with it’s own parking and entry that could be booked if you were traveling with family or friends. That space contains a bedroom with a full size bed and a full bathroom. If traveling with others, you could book both rooms and do your cooking and laundry in one unit and enjoy two separate units for your private use.
Not only was the AirBnb convenient and comfortable, it also had everything (at least this traveler) might need. The washer and dryer were a godsend and easy to operate. The full bathroom was just across the hall from the bedroom and had what I needed as well. There were wonderful artistic touches throughout the one bedroom AirBnb, and the wi-fi worked well. And did I mention the stars? I loved gazing at the stars each night. There were just so MANY of them! There was a full moon too. Beautiful! 👏👏👏
I felt very safe and comfortable there. The farm entrance is gated and there is fencing around the outer perimeter. The host was just a quick message away. I enjoyed my evenings there reading snippets of the books provided in the home, star-gazing outside on the patio, and planning the logistics for the next day.
If you ever want to stay in a lovely farm location minutes from a small village with some great restaurants, but with ready access to all Albuquerque has to offer, I’d encourage you to book The Farmhouse. Mary is a fantastic host and you will feel comfy-cozy and right at home.
